Sometimes the details about our stories get fussy. Unless we continue calling them up in conversations, in our diaries, journals, blogs or any other type of device where our thoughts can be put into words. It has happened through out history with apparently important documents, scrolls, books. Sometimes the writers mention how the Buddha share his first sermon about the eight fold path. Is not like his followers were writing down the hole speech, right? Eventually someone had the idea of writing down what they had learned from the Buddha, yet, it was like the broken telephone game. The original message was already distorted.
Anyway, that night hanging out with Pau, Francois, Celeste and Elise, we decided to go to Burger King and McDonalds after having a debate who had the best fries. I couldn't believe it when both Elise and Celeste ordered a double whooper with no meat or cheese. I was like, what? They affirmed what I heard and told me about their vegan diet choice. I didn't understand, quickly dismissed it in my mind and never thought about that night until today. That's it. I don't remember what happened before the debate or after eating our meat-full and meat-less burgers.
So, this week I posted a picture of my double meat-less burger and tagged Beyond Meat in my post. Quickly the comments came and from that a connection was made. Now I made contact with someone who lives near Cueva Bar Cafe and represents Beyond Meat so the experimentation will begin soon and sooner than later you'll be able to enjoy plant based burgers with us.
I had contacted Beyond Meat in the past to ask them about who their representative in this area was so I could explore my buying options and hopefully introduce plant based protein dishes, such as a Vegan Burger!
Some of you will remember my decision to remove all beef from our menu about a year ago, some of you will be shocked or these news won't make any difference.
I've loved the taste of beef for as long as I remember. I can tell you that for months I struggled not having a cheeseburger here and there, but then Joanna arrived home from the store with a package that looked quite interesting to me and to my surprise I discovered the package contained 6 plant based patties by Beyond Meat. That day was magical. I couldn't believe the flavor and texture. Yes, we prepared them with cheese. Our purpose hasn't been to go all full vegan but to reduce our beef consumption and ever since we took all beef of the menu at Cueva Bar Cafe we had also removed beef from home and vegan burgers are part of our every other week meals we prepare and enjoy together. If you invite me for dinner and decide to prepare a delicious meat loaf, burgers, or anything else I will very happily accept the invitation. I might even bring a bottle of delicious Mezcal but cannot promise to stay away from the kitchen.
